Irvine CubeSat Successfully Launches Two Satellites into Space
The Irvine CubeSat STEM Program, supported by Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation, became the first high school-built team to successfully launch two satellites in one year! The team, comprised of students from Irvine, Northwood, Portola, University, Woodbridge and Arnold O. Beckman High Schools, received official confirmation from Rocket Lab that their solar-powered nano-satellites, launched at different times, were orbiting Earth and taking pictures of planets and stars that the students will use for research. Chapman University Names Andrew Lyon as Inaugural Dean of the Fowler School of Engineering
Andrew Lyon, PhD, a member of the Board of Directors at Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation and 2000 Beckman Young Investigator, has been named as the inaugural Dean of the Fowler School of Engineering at Chapman University, effective January 1, 2019. Previously, he served as Dean of the Schmid College of Science and Technology. Congratulations, Dean Lyon!
