As 2018 draws to a close, we begin to look ahead toward 2019 and the wonderful opportunities a new year may bring... for the QYMA team, this means planning for another exciting season of music making!
We are excited to announce that entries are now OPEN for the QYMA 2019 Season!
You can access the preliminary schedule via the link below.
Please note that this schedule (including venues) is subject to change depending on registration numbers. Entries close 8March 2019.
We are once again excited to welcome ensembles from across Brisbane and beyond to join together and celebrate the music being made by young members of the community. In 2019, we also welcome sectional additions in the Redlands/Bayside area where we look forward to engaging with new (and re-entering) ensembles!
We are also calling for expressions of interest for a Stage Band Section to be re-introduced in 2019. If your school is interested in entering a Stage Band into QYMA 2019, we would love to hear from you at QYMA@birralee.org.
We look forward to seeing (and hearing) you in 2019!

ABOUT QYMA
Origins of Queensland Youth Music Awards (QYMA) stem back to 1966 - 1967 when the event began, run by a small committee supported by Ashgrove and The Gap Methodist Churches.
The management of the event extended to Uniting Church Parishes in 1977, before changing hands and becoming The Pine Rivers Music Contest for Primary and Secondary Schools in 1994.
QYMA is now managed by Voices of Birralee, a leading Australian, Brisbane-based non-profit child and youth choral organisation.
It now caters for around 200 ensembles and choirs from different schools throughout South East Queensland, making it one of the largest school music eisteddfods in our state.
Now one of the most anticipated music events of the school year, QYMA maintains its original ethos of giving young people the opportunity to make music in a supportive environment.
