Making Learning Fun for First-Graders
Our newest TEQ installment is a 10-minute activity. Global Village Academy's Jianing Guo demonstrates five activities to keep first-graders focused and make learning fun and efficient. Watch as these learning activities ignite the children's enthusiasm for learning like magic. The six-year-old children in this video are totally engaged, and they are having a lot of fun.

How to Find Authentic Books about Asia, from Asia
Finding "own voices" from Asia is not impossible, and the gleanings are well worth the effort
It's often difficult to find authentic international literature, so David Jacobson (author of Are You an Echo? The Lost Poetry of Misuzu Kaneko and a board member of the Global Literature in Libraries Initiative) suggests ways to find books about Asia that are appropriate for students, written locally by Asians, and available in English. He also spearheaded the GLLI's effort to create a database of children's literature in translation, which so far includes works originally published in Chinese, Korean, Japanese, German, and Polish. Read on »

Global Seal of Biliteracy: Launching in January of 2019, this credential will for the first time allow anyone—whether their language was learned in a classroom, at home, or through other experiences—to earn a Seal of Biliteracy. Locally driven State Seal of Biliteracy initiatives have been adopted in 33 states and the District of Columbia to date, but they are generally available only to public school students in participating districts, and the standards for receiving it vary by state. The Global Seal of Biliteracy closes that gap with a consistent, inclusive and accessible solution. Learn more »
