November 2018
Did you know that revenue from home-sharing and short-term rentals (e.g. AirBnb) in the United States amounted to $13 billion in 2018 alone? Local governments are increasingly having to contend with this issue. PlaceSpeak's latest white paper tackles the challenges around effective online consultation on short-term rentals. Additionally, learn how the City of Yellowknife used PlaceSpeak to engage residents, businesses and stakeholders to create a framework for regulating STRs.

In November, Communications Manager Mary Leong presented a workshop with Elkhart County Commissioner Mike Yoder at the National Coalition for Dialogue and Deliberation (NCDD) Conference. The session showcased how PlaceSpeak was used to engage residents on a controversial proposed immigration detention centre in the County.

Finally, Government of Canada departments are leveraging PlaceSpeak's growing civic network and its ability to notify thousands of Canadians from coast to coast of each new consultation – from trade and gender to economic diversification and more. This month, Library and Archives Canada is inviting Canadians to help build their collection of content published in or about Canada.
