Vehicle Import Regulation Changes
They're still coming... just slowly
Currently back with the Senate for consideration - "patient waiting mode"... (*click*) ACTIVATED
Two interesting amendments were proposed by Senator David Leyonhjelm on 11 Nov 2018.
ONE - Allow any vehicle approved under previous regulations to remain on the new SEVS list.
This is BIG, as it would mean taking the old SEVS model list and ADDING to it, rather than starting again from a completely blank page. It would ease the transition for the used import industry and save all those models which were going to be excluded from import including non-hybrid people movers.
TWO - "environmental vehicle" to be one that is (a) primarily electric-powered or (b) emits less than 130 grams of carbon dioxide per km traveled.
