-- They will open earlier than normal to allow us to have choice of seating and get orders started. We will order from their regular menu.
-- It turns out that the Adobe is closed for remodeling.
Thanks to Kim Shelton who, again, scheduled the Rhody Cruisers Christmas Luncheon, and thanx to those who made suggestions and collected info.

Thanksgiving in Florence

I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving. It's one of the best Holidays in my book because all I have to do is eat and hang out with Kids and Cousins and usually end up talking cars. Dianne, on the other hand, always prepares a Traditional Bird, fully accessorized, and presents it like Martha Stewart was going to show up.

Well... Martha texted me and said she had a headache. So, with no additional guests on the schedule, we decided to go down to the Elks Club and help with their
Annual free Thanksgiving Dinner. We could be servers. Perfect. I would much rather meet the guests than whack a Turkey. ...It was all good until the power went off about an hour before opening. Inside the Elks Club, sans-power, its black and the kitchen is getting cold. By the time we got there, the power was back on, and the coordinators were succeeding in getting the project back on schedule, even if their hair was still smoldering. Dozens of Volunteers were busy and seemed to know what to do, even if I didn't. The Kitchen staff was busy making plates as fast as they could. HEY, Gary! "You and Stephanie..Take 5 plates to table 34!" More volunteers were serving coffee, drinks, pie, taking a to-go order, clear a table, solve a problem, expedite the experts, and made sure every plate has a roll. It was all kind of a crazy musical, behind the scenes kind of thing. Dang! that was fun!

When we reported for duty, they had name tags ready. Well, there's a Gary, but no Dianne. Because there were lots of extra names, Dianne decided to choose a different one. Stephanie sounds fun, I'll take her. So for the rest of the day, everyone including myself, was all 'Stephanie this and that'.

After a couple hours, it calmed down, and we served until they ran out of food ....Um, how about 2 plates for table 4? ...Is McDonalds open?

The dinner was Grand. Stuffing, spuds, veggies, yams, some turkey stuck to the bottom of the pan ...and a roll. Just like Martha made it.
