Class in session!

God bless!

Classes have started, and I had the blessing to travel and get to know all the students taking classes this semester. This is something I did not had the opportunity to do while living in the states. It has given me a more personal touch, and the opportunity to know their stories and vision. There are a total of 12 students between both classes. This past month we studied Israel, Old Testament History, learning from God's plan, and learning how to apply to our church today. We have also been studying Hebrews, looking at Jesus superiority based on his fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies. The semester ends in November.
Biznaga

The sessions with the leadership at New Life Christian Church in Biznaga are now finished. We established a mission and a vision statement. It is our desire that with the time we spent analyzing and establishing this foundation that as a church we will be better equipped to reach and serve those around us. Please pray for the leadership as they prepare themselves to share this with the congregation at the beginning of 2019

For classes starting in 2019 we are looking on doing a study in Hebrews with the leadership at the Biznaga. This will be the first in a series of studies focused on the idea of establishing a theological foundation in the teaching of the church. We are also planning on looking for curriculum at the missionary convention so we can train the leadership how to teach others how to read and write, as this is a definite need in the community and we believe that this will be a great way to reach out and open doors for evangelism.

We ask that you pray for us as we continue to work both in the Hispanic Leadership Outreach, and Sharing Hope ministries. Some of our expenses have increased in both ministries. For HLO we need approximately $250 per semester to buy curriculum to  teach the classes. And for the child sponsorship program the price of gas has increased costing approximately $50 more per week to transport children and deliver the meals to the kids. Those are just two of the expenses that are currently are not covered in our budget, but we trust that God will provide as we believe what we are doing is all for His glory.
Kid's Corner
During the October medical campaign the kids had their yearly checkups and received medication and vitamins. Dr. Sandy spent time talking with the moms about keeping their kids clean and eating healthy. She also talked with the kids about brushing  their teeth, cutting their nails, and washing their hands. She has plans to visit them again to do monthly check-ups and address any needs or concerns.

The Sharing Hope Child Sponsorship Support Team is in the process of implementing an online database that will help sponsors keep in touch with their sponsored kids. Sponsors will soon have the ability to go online and see updated pictures and information, be able to write to them, and will have the added convenience of being able to make online support payments. It’s a big step and we know that this will help you connect more with the kids many of you are sponsoring. This is one of the many steps  we are taking as we desire to be a bigger blessing to the community and to the kids.

We have noticed that many of the children in the program are having reading and writing difficulties, yet are still being moved to the next grade in school, and then they become stuck where they are, and become frustrated and defeated. In an attempt to help address this problem we are having monthly reading sessions were the staff of Sharing Hope sits down and reads a story with the kids, and then practices with them the letters of the alphabet. This is just the start, we will try to address other areas of educational shortfalls as we can find the help.
