Astha has been working with Chandravati and her family since January 2017. The field workers connected to her through the Anganwadi worker and Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA). The parents informed the team during assessment that she fell from the terrace of her home and again after 6 months from the first incident.
One of the first Interventions with her was to encourage her to use both of her hands, which she was not doing. ASTHA trained her mother to use household resource to exercise both her arms and legs. Chandravati is bright and eventually became part of the inclusion group. This is the group where children with and without disabilities take part in creative activities together. Creative art activities are performed by groups aiming at individual learning outcomes for the children.
The fact that Chandravati understands the context of her disability speaks much for her self-awareness. Even at this young age, she understands what her strengths are and how to use them. ASTHA's community workers motivated her mother to focus on Chandravati's education. She is now enrolled in a nearby private school.
