The first thing I did after buying my new iPhone XS was to download the IGTV app on my mobile. Yes, the IGTV platform or the Instagram TV is slated to be the next big innovation on Instagram. It has been around since the beginning of 2018 and has gathered quite a few eyeballs and buzz on the blogging circuit. It is easy to use and has a user-friendly interface. Now, you can watch vertical videos that are much more convenient to watch on mobile devices. Unlike platforms like YouTube, that only use horizontal vision, IGTV channel lets you see content in a vertical fashion. Now that is a big innovation. No more twisting and turning your mobile phone to watch videos clearly. You can watch videos the way you were meant to on a flat mobile screen.
The interface has a ‘For You’ section that shows videos related to what you see according to your previous profile, hobbies and tastes. Then you have the ‘Following’ section. This lets you watch content videos of people you have chosen to follow. Next is the ‘Popular’ section. This section consists of videos that are mostly watched on IGTV, the ones that everyone is watching and enjoying. ‘History’ is a tab that stores videos you have watched previously so that you can go back and watch them again or complete your entire experience.
On top of these tabs, you have the ‘Search’. Here, you can search for content creators and other members of IGTV whose content you would want to watch or follow. Note that you can only watch videos of content creators. You cannot search for specific videos. Then you have your account, which is a small photo of you. Click on it and view all the videos you have uploaded through your account. Note that your IGTV account is the same as your Instagram account. You do not need a separate account for it. You can use Instagram editing tools or even Clips to edit and make exotic videos with superimposing scenes, cartoons or emojis, and custom music or background score. All can be done with ease.
