Winter Follies Rehearsal Schedule:

We will be hosting a few additional rehearsals next week for our Wind Symphony, Symphonic I, Symphonic II and Concert Band students. These rehearsals are being scheduled due to the fact that all of our percussion students currently meet during first period. In order for the percussion students to rehearse with the ensembles, these additional rehearsals are necessary. Wind Ensemble will not hold any additional rehearsals given that they meet during the first period of the day as well. Students in these ensembles are expected to attend the following rehearsals:

Wind Symphony (Mr. Gordon) -
Thursday, December 6th - 7:30-8:20am

Symphonic I (Ms. Riecss) -
Tuesday, December 4th - 7:30-8:20am

Symphonic II (Mr. Collins) -
Monday, December 3rd - 4:30-6:00pm
Wednesday, December 5th - 7:30-8:20am

Message from the Booster President -

Band Family!

We are so excited to head into concert season! This is when we really get to see (and hear) how amazing our children are as musicians.

Our first concert is WINTER FOLLIES on December 9th. This day of concerts will showcase our high school band students as well as the band students from Barton, Dahlstrom & McCormick middle schools.

As you are aware, we had our TAMALE fundraiser over the last few weeks; pick up of those orders will be on December 9th during the concerts. We could use help from both the high school AND middle school parents to man the tamale booth to enable ALL parents to watch their child perform. Please see the sign-up link below for volunteer opportunities!

Thanks SO much!

High School Region Band Auditions:

The individuals listed on the attached roster below have been registered and PAID for to attend this years region band auditions as the first step in the TMEA All-State process. The first round of region auditions will take place this Thursday, November 29th

On the day of auditions, students will be required to ride the bus over to Akins high school (per district rules) following the end of the school day. We will be on a tight schedule following the school day, so students will need to make their way over to the band hall fast! Students will also need to make arrangements to have food dropped off or bring a snack/meal to eat on the bus. There will be a concession stand at Akins high school (cash only) for students to purchase snacks as well.

Students are not required to ride the bus back after their audition. They may make arrangements to ride home with a parent or guardian following their audition. Students will need to be picked up at Akins high school should they choose to be picked up. We must also receive an email to Mr. R (john.rauschuber@hayscisd.net) stating that the student will be picked up that afternoon. Please send an email NO LATER then Thursday (11/29) by 5:00pm. Note that this will be the quickest way for students to get home this afternoon! Students riding the bus back to Hays will not depart Akins until every Hays student has auditioned. This can typically last until 10/11pm.

Some of the larger sections (trumpets, clarinets, flutes, percussion, etc) will have two phases of auditions. Students will find out Thursday night if they advance to the Saturday round. We will provide more information to these students who advance following Thursday's auditions for we will have the details and times then.
