Biofuel initiatives target carbon dioxide emissions

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has identified Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) as essential to CO2 emissions mitigation. SAF are the only low-carbon aviation fuels available in the short to mid-term.

Regional coalition responds to environmental concerns
Sea levels in the Tampa/St. Petersburg metropolitan area have been predicted to rise nearly two feet by 2100. Year-round flooding may impact the regional economy by as much as $162 billion.

The Tampa Bay Regional Resiliency Coalition was initiated in response to those concerns.
Does air pollution shorten the average lifespan?
A recent study estimated the impact of air pollution on the human lifespan. Results for 44 countries showed the problem to be most acute in Bangladesh where, on average, air pollution may shorten human lifespan by 682 days. Clean air in Sweden and New Zealand brought the least lifespan impact, both less than two months.
Four new paths open to Net Zero
This month, the U.S. Green Building Council launched a four-faceted Net Zero program:
  • Net Zero carbon emissions
  • Net Zero energy use
  • Net Zero water use
  • Net Zero waste operations.

Corporate sustainability and resiliency trend toward tomorrow
Earlier this month in Atlanta, a panel at the Airports Going Green Conference presented winning formulas for operational efficiency, technology integration, workforce development, and resiliency at airport organizations.

Our Director of Programs, Mital Hall, moderated. Speakers were Salomon Salinas (Accenture), Jennifer Garner (UPS), and Chris Hagler (Ernst & Young).
