Principal's Message
Dear Wealthy Elementary Families,
I am guessing that many of our 400 students put their pajamas on inside out and slept with spoons under their pillows on Sunday night. Hopefully, they were able to get outside and take advantage of the snow day yesterday! Later in the winter, we will be introducing sledding and snow targets to the students. Grade levels take turns on the sledding hill using school sleds only. 2nd through 5th grade students will have the opportunity to throw snowballs at targets that will be hung on the fences. All students are encouraged to build snow creations and to respect what others have built by leaving them intact. These are always favorite activities on cold winter days.
Cold Weather Reminder
As we head into these colder months, please help your child enjoy outdoor recess by ensuring he/she is dressed appropriately for the weather. We go outside for recess three times per day, weather permitting. If the wind chill drops below zero degrees, students will remain inside for recess. Snow pants and boots are required for students who want to leave the paved areas of the playground when there is snow or when it is extremely wet and muddy.
Kids’ Food Basket
During this time of year, the staff and I like to help students focus on giving back and Making a Difference for others. We do this through our annual Kids’ Food Basket collection drive. You can learn more about Kids’ Food Basket by clicking here. Our building has become a major donor for KFB over the past few years and the experience of assembling Sack Suppers, decorating paper bags, and loading the KFB van is truly meaningful for our students. Thank you to the Student Leadership Team led by Mrs. Eggert and Mrs. Griffith for coordinating this experience! Because KFB has updated their process, we are collecting slightly different items than in years past. Your child’s teacher should have sent a note home with specific descriptions and requests but below is a list for your reference. We hope that you will participate at whatever level you are able. Items may be sent in with your student to the classroom teacher. Our last day for collection is Wednesday, December 5. Thank you for Making a Difference!
