ADVENT CALENDAR
Praying with the Saints in Advent
St. Nicholas, St. Lucia, St. Joseph, St. Mary
Even as we look to Christ as our light, breaking through the darkness of these often cold and dark days, we can also see the light reflected - however imperfectly - in the lives of ordinary people, who have done extraordinary things in their lives.  The Saints of the old days are for us models of faith to follow, inspiration for our daily lives.
This Advent we will celebrate the lives of St.Nicholas, of Saint Lucia, St. Joseph and of Mother Mary. Our beloved saint Katie Romanoski and her artist grandchildren have created a new banner for Advent: A Mary pregnant with the Word of Life, Jesus Christ, our Lord.

THEO-TALK DECEMBER 9TH
Building a Legacy at LOTM
Please plan to attend the  Theo-Talk on the benefits of planned giving at LOTM.  Tina Kvitek, the Regional Gift Planner for the ELCA Rocky Mountain Synod, will lead the discussion on the many ways that planned gifts, such as bequests, can both benefit the donor and advance the mission of LOTM in the years to come.  The RFT Committee identified the importance of planned giving, and a Gift Committee, headed up by Ferol  Menzel and Dave Domzal, developed a Gift-giving  Policy for  LOTM. The Church Council approved the policy at its November meeting.

Ladies Lunch Bunch
The Ladies Lunch Bunch will next meet on Dec 12, weds, at noon at the Red Mountains Grill. See sign up sheet on table in Narthex or just come!

Window Replacement
A new pane for the cracked window in the sanctuary has been ordered and should be installed in a coupe of weeks.

Men's Winter Parkas Needed
Every year some Day Services clients are woefully unprepared for the cold weather. Please check your closets for extra men's parkas that could be passed on to a needy client.
Warm boots, hats, socks and gloves are also needed. The hand warmer packets are also very popular. Our storage space is limited so please no dress clothes.
Thank you for supporting Day Services!

2019 FINANCIAL GIVING CAMPAIGN UPDATE
GOAL:   $355,000
As of 11/26/18 the Giving Campaign has received 57 pledges for a total of $214,000

At this time however, we are a bit behind if we are going to reach our goal. Each dollar of support is important to continue our ministries to do God's work, increase  programming for people of all ages, provide reasonable compensation raises for staff, and keep our beautiful facility operating.
Please prayerfully consider your financial situation and complete a pledge sheet as soon as possible so that the Council and Finance committee can complete the 2019 budget. We value  participation and financial commitment at all levels; no pledge is too small!  Yellow/orange pledge sheets may be found on the tables in the Narthex.
Automatic bank transfers or credit card deposits can be set up to simplify things. Many or our age-gifted people are taking advantage of direct transfers from retirement accounts. Please contact Amy Simper, treasurer and giving campaign chair,  at 303-246-6747 if you have questions.

Card Ministry Team
The Card Ministry Team is in need of new members. This quiet ministry sends condolence, get well, sympathy and special congratulations to LOTM members and friends. Each member serves one month a year.  Note cards, postage stamps and guidelines are kept in the Volunteer Room. Recipient names come from the prayer chain list or the Sunday bulletin list. Please let Doris Koneman know if you are ready to release your inner poet. dkoneman@comcast.net or 970-453-2685.

Who likes surprises?
Watch for a little LOTM surprise in a December Field Guide.

Gratitude
For all those who pledged early so that the Church Council and the Finance Committee can work on a budget for next year.

SOS
Thank you for your generosity for the November 2nd Offering- Water Pump Wells for Rural Cambodians. Although last Sunday's congregation was small, their hearts were big.  If you were unable to donate, contributions towards the wells will continue to be accepted. We are so  grateful for LOTM's commitment to global outreach. A report will be forthcoming.  Karen and Ben Little

LOAF

Prayer Shawls Needed
Calling all knitters and crocheters. Summit Medical Center is in need of prayer shawls for our patients. They don't need to be fancy, or any particular color.
