Financial Support exists for participating in YWWOP classes.
There are funding options available through Government of Yukon Labour Market Programs and Services for students in the communities to attend school if:
1. The training is related to increasing their ability to participate in the labour force. This could include industry or job specific training, or essential skills.
2. They don’t qualify for other funding through a first nation, or other funding program.
Any individuals in the communities who struggle to obtain or keep employment that meet their needs are welcome to reach out at the contact information given below and discuss ways the program may be able to assist them.
In addition, funding may assist employers if they need to hire an employee but have not been able to find someone qualified in the community. If the employer commits to train an individual on the job there may be funding available to assist the employer with the extra costs associated with employing and training someone who they would not normally consider hiring.
Government of Yukon works with individuals to find solutions, which could assist them in gaining and keeping employment, and with employers to assist them in hiring or keeping employees. These solutions are not limited to formal education and training, and individuals and employers are encouraged to reach out to discuss possible solutions to their employment/labour market challenges.
