Neighbourhood Renewal Workshop Saturday December 1st - We need you!

Elmwood Park is getting new roads, sidewalks, streetlights and more! The number of people registered for our upcoming neighbourhood renewal workshop is still quite low. We need more residents to attend and give feedback on what improvements are needed in our area!

To RSVP, go to the Eventbrite Page here or if you know someone who would like to attend but is not comfortable RSVP-ing online, please have them call the league at 780-479-1035 and leave a message.

The details for the event are as follows:

Planning for Eastwood/Elmwood Park Neighbourhood Renewal has begun! We invite you to participate in the first Public Workshop to:

  • Help us assess your neighbourhood as it is today and identify opportunities for enhancement.

  • Create a vision for the future of Eastwood and Elmwood Park.

Date: December 1, 2018
Location: Eastwood Community League, 11803 86 Street NW
Time: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm
Lunch and children's activities will be provided.

A guided Neighbourhood Walk will take place in the morning
(8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) followed by a Neighbourhood Assessment and Visioning Workshop (1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.).

You are encouraged to join us for the whole day, however, if you are unable to, you may attend just the morning or afternoon session. Please RSVP HERE to confirm your attendance by November 26 and let us know if you have any mobility concerns or dietary restrictions.

For those who are unable to attend this event, two online surveys will be available on the project web page from December 1, 2018 to January 15, 2019 to share your feedback.

Please share this invitation with your neighbours and friends who may not have subscribed to our mailing list yet. They may sign up at edmonton.ca/BuildingEastwoodElmwoodPark.

Highlands Library Engagement

Did you know that the Highlands library is considered our local library branch? The data they have collected shows that many Elmwood Park residents have library cards but use a different branch than Highlands.

Which library branch do you use most often?

Call for Volunteers - Casino and Board!

Elmwood Park will be working its first casino event (in quite a while!) sometime between July-September of 2019. This event needs as many as 40 volunteers but brings in the majority of the operating budget for the league. If you are interested in helping out at this event, please contact the league by email at epcl.info@shaw.ca or via our Facebook page.

We are also specifically trying to recruit a few more board volunteers:

Membership Director - Maintains our membership directory, distributes membership cards

Communications Director - Create email newsletter and flyers and maintain social media accounts

Programming/Sports Director - Coordinates programming at the hall and acts as a liaison to sports organizations for the league (New position!)

Hall Director - Books hall rentals and will assist renters with hall access. May arrange for maintenance and contractors.

Volunteers with general interest in joining the board are always welcome.

Volunteer commitment is approximately one board meeting per month (about 1.5 hours), plus meetings at appropriate outside organization meetings a few times a year for the president and vice-president positions. Time commitment at events is about 3 hours every 3-4 months, if you are available.

The league could not operate without the dedicated volunteer board members that give their time each month! Involvement in the board is a great way to stay in touch with current events and activities in our area.
