CHANGING LIVES IN TANZANIA | WINTER 2018
Latifa and her doll, a gift brought from New Zealand by her sponsors, Jessie McLean and family.

This holiday, we're counting our blessings

2018 has been a remarkable year for the children LOHADA serves. The year brought drought in Shinyanga and floods in Arusha, but was also filled with miracles. Kids learned math tables and how to read. They lost baby teeth and outgrew shoes. All the while, they were loved by you. Here are just six ways our cup runs over with blessings from you:

1. NEW FRIENDS
Three work camps visited our centers this year. LOHADA kids love making new friends, practicing English and helping with work projects when visitors come. Ask Julia Cerutti, pictured here. She visited with Penticton Secondary School from Canada. Getting to know kids like Angel forever changed her.
2. NEW AND OLD SPONSORS

Thirteen LOHADA children were sponsored in 2018! And 38 more continue to be blessed by sponsors from Israel to Canada, New Zealand to the United States. Sharon Passey, shown here, got to visit her new friend, Neema E. Meet the kids and their new sponsors on Facebook. Join our family and help us sponsor 10 more children by Jan. 31.
3. Toothbrushes, toothpaste and hygiene lessons

Nurse Karen Arnold and a medical team from the United States provided hygiene products (thanks to Big Lots and Benco) and tutorials to the kids at Camp Joshua School. The team then traveled to Shinyanga to volunteer in the new Golden Grace Clinic. The team included Karen, Dr. Tricia Allenby, Sandi and Dr. Dan Smith.
4. VOLUNTEERS, FRESH PAINT AND NEW TILE

Penticton Secondary School students and teachers painted Camp Joshua Christian School inside and out. They upgraded drainage so kids will be dryer during the rainy season. Volunteers from New Zealand tiled and painted the girls dormitory. LOHADA relies on our supporters to continue capital improvements at the schools. Asante!
5. COLLEGE/TRADE SCHOOL

LOHADA remains faithful to the children in our care. Now 11 of them are in college or trade school! Julie and Nancy Justice Marshall raised tuition funds for Schola, whom they have sponsored for years. Special thanks also to Sarah Derbew for funding Neema R's college.
6. Dollies and dresses, chickens and a cow plus prayers from you

Our supporters shower LOHADA's little ones with love. Jeff and Kristen Gable sent little Neema a doll. The group from New Zealand brought handmade dresses. Penticton bought chickens and a cow so that the kids will have milk and eggs. Sponsors send photos and beautiful words of love and hope in letters, which our kids prize.
Special thanks to Karen Jacobs and Kevin Millar for their caring gift to buy food for children in drought-stricken Shinyanga; Elaine BuhrledgeLucy Cocchimiglio and Lee Sullivan for their generous gifts; Michelle Engelhardt, who donated to honor her mother, Diane; Ken Vandermark, who donated funds for school supplies; the Allenby family for their tireless support; Robert and Shirley Worgul for their support of Golden Grace Clinic; Bill and Stacey Lange for giving when the kids needed it most; Chapel Hill Freewill Baptist Church and North Broadway United Methodist Church
Sponsor A Child
THE MOST PRECIOUS GIFT YOU WILL GIVE

Sponsoring a child at the Silver Level, $38 a month, or the Gold Level, $50 a month, is an incredible way to share the love this holiday season. We will send a photo of the child you sponsor. Learn more about sponsoring a child. Or make a one-time holiday gift.
