Head Girl Team Blog: GDST Young Leaders Conference

The event was hosted at the Royal High School Bath and we started the weekend by being split up into 12 teams with 140 other students from the schools across the Trust.

One of the highlights of my week is seeing the Year 6 girls who form the Blackheath High Mighty Girls’ Club. Every Wednesday I am guaranteed a lively discussion on all manner of issues relating to the role of women in the world today.

Certificates from the Duke of York

The Duke of York Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award (iDEA) is an international programme aiming to help address the digital skills gap. The programme provides digital skills education in the form of engaging online modules (badges).

Educational Comment - Mrs C Maddison

My daughter is no longer a teenager and I really do miss the rollercoaster feeling of having a teenager at home, but we established a tradition of singing together in the car early on in those teenage years that still endures today.

Every year, GDST hold a Christmas card competition where hundreds of students from all over the country can submit their own designs.

GDST Geography Collaboration
Blackheath, together with Putney, Sutton, Birkenhead and Streatham and Clapham High Schools joined forces with the School of Geography at Queen Mary University of London to host an immersive day of fieldwork throughout East London

Abigail wins Art in Heaven Competition
Over 2000 students were selected from schools from across the UK and entered ‘Spirited Arts’ this year, to get people thinking about Religious Education (RE) through art.

Year 8 investigate framing and food production issues
Year 8 embarked on the annual trip to Bore farm as part of a unit of work in Geography on Farming and Food Production issues.

Feminism in Schools Conference
On Saturday 17 November, members of Blackheath High School's Feminism / LGBTQ Society contributed to the annual Feminism in Schools conference held at Deptford Green School.

Impressive amount raised for Children in Need
Our Junior School had a spot-tacular time on Friday the 16th November when we raised an impressive sum of £792.50 in aid of Children in Need.

The House Music Competition
The House Music Competition took place on Friday 16 November and we were delighted to be able to welcome West-end pianist Louise Hunt as our adjudicator.

Rosa and her 7.1 Earthquake experience
Rosa, one of our gap students kindly gave up her time to join the Year 10’s to discuss her experiences. She was in Year 5 at school when the 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck Christchurch.
