Thank you for your support in 2018!
As we enter December, we look back in gratitude at all you have done as members, partners, and volunteers to support Athens Land Trust.

As we look ahead to our 25th anniversary next year (more exciting anniversary news coming soon!), you can help us end 2018 even stronger with an end-of-year tax deductible donation to Athens Land Trust. Your donation makes you an active member and a vital partner in our mission to conserve, empower, and sustain communities through responsible and visionary land use.

Consider making a Qualified Charitable Distribution from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA)! This type of donation allows you to meet required minimum distributions without counting them as taxable income. To find out more about this option, contact lorinda@athenslandtrust.org.

Recap: Work Day at Mae Willie Morton Community Garden
Our work day and cookout at Mae Willie Morton Community Garden was nothing short of amazing! We had so many volunteers who helped out through soil amending, building raised beds, mowing and weeding, and rebuilding the tool shed ramp! We'd like to thank everyone involved in restoring this wonderful community garden.
Beech Haven Volunteers Wanted!
Calling all volunteers for the ongoing Beech Haven restoration project!
Saturday, December 15th     9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

The Beech Haven Preserve, at over 100 contiguous acres, is one of the largest green spaces located in the city of Athens along the Middle Oconee River. Unfortunately, invasive plants continue to encroach into this unique urban ecosystem, threatening the beauty and integrity of the floodplain and forested areas. The future of Beech Haven is to provide river access and woodland trails to Athens residents.

This is a call to action! We invite volunteers, young and old, to contribute to the ongoing habitat improvement effort of this future public green space by removing invasive species from the forest under story.

The workday will be held on Saturday December 15th from 9 a.m. to noon. Meet in the parking lot behind Beech Haven Baptist Church and wear sturdy shoes, long pants, a long-sleeved shirt and bring water. The Northeast Georgia Invasive Plant Cooperative will provide all the tools and gloves needed for the workday. Questions? Call Invasive Plant Management Coordinator, Lauren Muller, at (706) 613-0122

Community Revolving Loan Fund Info Session
Join us for an upcoming Information Session to learn more about the Community Revolving Loan Fund. All potential candidates are required to attend an information session before applying. Applications can only be picked up at the required info session.

A community revolving loan fund (CRLF) is an economic development tool in which a pool of money is used for the purpose of making loans to individuals and businesses in the community. As loans are repaid by the borrowers, the money is returned to the loan fund, creating the opportunity to issue new loans to other businesses.

Sessions are held on the last Wednesday of every month from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. There will be one evening session held each month. Dates and times of evening sessions will be posted once available. Our upcoming session will be Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. If you cannot attend this session, there will be another session on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:30 AM.
Homebuyer Education & Credit Seminar
Join us Saturday, December 8th from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM for a homebuyer education and credit seminar to learn from the experts about the steps of becoming a homeowner.
