1/25/18 Open Discussion  ( opportunity to bring up a topic of interest, ask questions )

( FYI our '18 Annual Report is available here )

12/14 -12/15 - Join us for a dharma talk Friday 12/14 and a day long meditation retreat Saturday 12/15

The theme of the retreat will be Madhupindika or “Honey Ball” Sutta:   - The Discourse of how mental proliferation and views arise, lead to conflict and how we may bring this experience to an end.

The weekend will be spacious with a combination of silence, Meditation, instruction and direct experience.

We recommend that you attend both Friday evening and Saturday all day however accommodation will be made for those who are unable to do so.

NOTE:  originally we had Lama Gursam scheduled to lead the retreat, however he had to fly to tend to his ill father and we are so grateful that Pama Dharini was able to take the time to lead this retreat.

December 2018 will have Dharma and the Arts series as seen below - details on our website

12/24/18 - BSBC open for Meditation

News

We updated our website with our 2018 annual report - please check it out to learn about all the exciting things the sangha did during the year http://buddhistsangha.com/2018/11/21/2018-annual-bsbc-report/ - it also details the work of our standing committees.  We welcomed new board members (Irina, Michele and  and Rich ) and thanked board members ( Marc, and Judy ) stepping down this year for their service.  This community would not be possible without the energy these individuals had contributed over the years.

At our potluck last Monday, the food was outstanding! A wide array of vegetarian options including forbidden rice/beans, tofu sushi, roasted cauliflower with capers and lemon, roasted root veggies, veg chili, cheeses, Mediterranean rice, lentils with fruit and nuts, babka, homemade apple cranberry pie with gingersnap topping :)   If you have pictures, send them our way please.

Please take a moment to give us feedback about your experience at the BSBC Monday night meetings with this anonymous survey. Click on the link below: BSBC Feedback

When someone benefits us even a little, we should repay them with all our hearts. Even if someone is angry with us, we should always treat them well.
~ Upasakasila Sutra

An American tradition and holiday, Thanksgiving, is often the cornerstone of being thankful for people and things in our lives (and ironically, followed by massively acquiring things the next day on “Black Friday”).

As a Buddhist, it may seem like this is yet another holiday that is something we cannot take part in.  In-fact, it is perhaps one of the most important American holidays where Buddhist values shine.

We Need Donations Every Week

We collect and deliver donations to the Emergency Homeless Shelter. They are always in need of non perishable food items, paper products, and gift cards. However check out their Wish List if you want to give them what they really need.

We also collect for the local pet shelter. They need pet food and pet supplies (doesn't need to be new).

Please drop off your donation in a box in the lobby and consider
signing up to deliver the donation to the shelter.

Send us your ideas for the next newsletter

If you have something to share with the rest of the sangha please email your news to Susan at bsbc19067@yahoo.com and we will be sure to include it
