The Capricorn Film Festival is on once again at the end of this month (23
rd and 24
th November) where guest judges and industry professionals will be visiting Yeppoon to lend their expertise to the event, held at the Yeppoon Town Hall.
Festivities start with opening night feature film
The Pretend One.
The Pretend One is a coming-of-age drama about Charlie and Hugo who are aged in their 20’s and live in a rural town in Queensland. They’ve been best friends their whole lives. There’s just one thing – Hugo is Charlie’s imaginary friend.
The film stars Australian film industry legend
David Field, who will be in attendance for a special Q&A after the screening. David’s roles include:
Two Hands, Chopper, Oyster Farmer and Mystery Road.
Saturday will include masterclasses and panel discussions prior to the flagship event, the CAPS Short Film Festival.
The annual event gives residents the chance to support filmmakers from around the region and from all over the world. It also allows for local filmmakers, seasoned and beginner, to enter their short films into the competition.
Local filmmakers have taken a large step, with over
26 short films entered,
ten of which will be screened on Saturday as part of the CAPS Short Film Competition where category winners will win cash prizes, trophies and mentoring programs.
The film arts festival features masterclasses, panel discussions and selected short films in competition reviewed by a jury of film and entertainment professionals. The winners will receive cash prizes and trophies
The short film festival contains four categories, with two specifically created for Central Queensland filmmakers. CAPS Junior for high schools, CAPS Open for adults, CAPS World completing for Best Short Film category. The fourth is a special out of competition inclusion called B.OLD Short Stories, screened in partnership with the Queensland Government.
