Housing Ombudsman launches consultation on a new 3-year plan 


ARCH meets with Housing Ombudsman to discuss the Housing Ombudsman Service’s new three-year corporate plan, developed in light of the Social Housing Green Paper. Read more

Independent review of build out rates - final report
 
Sir Oliver Letwin MP was appointed by the Government to lead a review to “explain the significant gap between housing completions and the amount of land allocated or permissioned in areas of high housing demand and make recommendations for closing it”. His final report was published alongside the Budget 2018. Read more

The case for a Housing Court - Government calls for evidence  


The Government has issued a call for evidence, seeking views on the experiences of people using courts and tribunal services in property cases, including whether a specialist Housing Court is needed. Read more

UK Housing Awards 2019

ARCH member councils are urged to consider applications for the UK Housing Awards, which will take place on 1 May 2019 at the Grosvenor, Park Lane. Read more

Local Government Association and Housing and Finance Institute launch a Housing Business Ready Springboard Programme  

The Local Government Association has been working with the Housing and Finance Institute to pull together a ‘masterclass style’ support offer for a number of councils, looking at how to enable housing delivery. Read more

Over 220,000 net additional homes provided last year but less then 6,500 for social rent 

Latest figures show that over 222,000 net additional homes were delivered in 2017/18, including over 195,000 new build homes and others, from change of use and conversions of existing dwellings. Read more

Closing date for the MHCLG best practice group extended  

The closing date for expressions of interest from social landlords to participate in a Social Sector (Building Safety) Engagement Best Practice Group has been extended from 19 November to 2 December 2018. ARCH member councils are encouraged to submit an expression of interest in joining the Group. Read more
