Hooked?

Hi there,

We've launched Stackby within our network, teams across industries from tech to media to retail are trying it out to power up their workflows. Some of the feedback that we've received resonates with our core vision that there is a need for a platform that let the end users create and customize their own workflow - without having to learn a new technology, create a new habit or fit into other's software's heavy taxonomy. We strongly believe habit forming products, fit into a zone determined by frequency of use and perceived utility. Our aim is to be in this sweet spot.

Here's what we are reading this week -

# What's awesome in Technology?

1. AI chips powered by light,
can help run AI algorithms 100x faster than today. A startup in Boston, US called Lightelligence is developing a new optical chip that uses light instead of electrons to carry out computational operations needed for Machine Learning. Computing with light may be challenging because it's difficult to emulate a transistor optically, behavior of light is unpredictable, and surrounding circuits such as laser drivers, photon receivers, electronic modulators are difficult to manufacture, but if this issues can overcome it may be a boom in the world of AI. Read the full story here on Technology Review.

2. AI powered app to help people with autism. 1 in 160 children globally has an autism spectrum disorder (WHO study). Founded by a neuroscientist Ned Sahin, Brain Power believes their apps can improve social communication and interaction skills of people with autism. They teach practical skills using Google Glass and range of apps that offer feedback geared to the situation. The apps connect to the cloud using AI to produce insights for children, parents and teachers. Read the full story here on World Economic Forum.

4. Camunda, makers of workflow automation software from Berlin, raises $28M Series A. Crunchbase.

5. Eko, enterprise messaging startup and a Slack competitor, raises $20M to expand in Europe. TechCrunch

# Insights from the influencers

1. Is Lean startup still possible in 2019? Check out Austin Lawson's thoughts on how he struggled through the failure years and how thinking out the box is much needed in super competitive times.

2. Make sure customers are comfortable. Interesting read on why Basecamp runs 3 completely different versions of their software, true contrarian in the world of software. Gives a perspective on why customer habits can't be changed easily.

What we're building

We are building Stackby, a cloud based multi-purpose data management and collaboration platform - that is as easy as a spreadsheet but as powerful as a database. So that your habits don't change.

Today, all our workflows are disconnected. We ping pong between Spreadsheets, Emails, CRMs, Task managers, vertical softwares.. and many others. We believe it's time to change that!

Stackby is a platform to build your own real-time app in 2 minutes across hundreds of use-cases from CRM to Project management to Product Planning to Deal-flow management, all from a single, easy to use & cost effective platform. No setup, training or lengthy deployment required.

Our early users are using Stackby to manage their projects, deals, tasks, initiatives, campaigns, contractors, customers, bugs and more.

For example, the gif below shows how you can customize & organize your information in a Grid with rich field types such as Dropdowns, Attachments and Checkboxes, do advanced search and filter on your data, change your data layout to Kanban and collaborate with your team members in real-time through Commenting on detailed rows.

If you are interested in giving it a try, please sign up here for free to get early access or schedule a free demo.

Our vision is to give non-technical end user power to build their own applications by using just their spreadsheet skills.

With love,

Rachit Khator
