CLIMATE CROWD NEWSLETTER - December 2018

Climate Crowd is a crowdsourcing initiative that convenes and supports a network of partners to gather data on how climate change is impacting people and nature, and supports on-the-ground projects that help rural communities adapt while reducing pressure on biodiversity.

In the news..

A recent a rticle published by Yale's School of Forestry and Environmental Studies discusses how climate change is pushing wildlife, particularly birds, to higher elevations in order to cope with rising temperatures.

Loss of Mangroves as Rising Seas Impact Coastal Cameroon

Birds aren't the only ones on the move in response to climate change. A recent round of Climate Crowd surveys reveal how communities on the coast of Cameroon are having to move inland as sea level rise and severe storms destroy buildings and make soils and drinking water salty.

This comes at the cost of forests and mangroves, which are being used as material for rebuilding efforts and cleared to make way for new farmland and settlements.

"NEDTalk" at NOAA

Climate Crowd was recently invited to give a talk by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). These NEDTalks (NOAA Environmental Data Talks) were part of an effort to promote NOAA and other environmental groups to both the scientific community and the public.
