Scimitar beer and book

Last October not only saw the 50th Anniversary of the Scimitar GTE, it also saw a new celebratory beer called Scimitar that was specially brewed by Tamworth Brewing Co. in conjunction with the Reliant Motor Club.  The beer was officially launched along with Elvis' latest book, The Reliant Scimitar and proved to be very successful.  More details of this can be found in the latest edition of the Reliant Motor Club Review magazine due out later this month.  Behind the scenes we are always working with new ideas associated with Reliant and its home town Tamworth. We will bring you further news as and when they come to fruition.

The RMC continues to grow and to date we are just short of 300 members worldwide which is quite amazing, especially as many are now renewing with the 2 year subscription option.  Our online archives are also slowly growing with, at the time of writing, just over 650 documents on line.  We have plans for a new section to be added inb 2019 this should increase the amount of documents available by quite a bit.

I would like to wish you and your families a wonderful Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.

Best Wishes

Caroline.

Christmas Greeting from HRH The Princess Royal
At the Reliant Motor Club we are most honoured to receive a Christmas card from our Honorary Member HRH The Princess Royal.  In the card the Princess sends all members of the RMC the following message;

With Best Wishes for a Happy and Peaceful Christmas and New Year from Anne

Rick Astley and a Rialto
A few of our members have pointed out to us that singer Rick Astley has a new single out called "She makes me" and that the video features a 1986 Reliant Rialto that is prominently featured throughout the video.  We were going to contact Rick Astley and quiz him on his choice of car for the video and what he thought of it.  One of the questions however was soon answered when we came across a making of the video in which he says, "It is the worst vehicle I have driven in my life and if you own a 3-wheeler and love it, then God bless you."  That said, he does admit that the video shoot was one of the most fun videos he has ever done.
New Reliant Scimitar book now available
Our Chairman and Historian, Elvis Payne, has a new book on Reliant Sportscars entitled, The Reliant Scimitar.  The book contains a foreword by H.R.H The Princess Royal and covers all Reliant Sportscar models (both production and abandoned projects) from the Sabra to the planned De La Chapelle Roadster based Scimitar in 1999.

As with Elvis' previous books, numerous key people have assisted with the book including former Reliant directors, Barrie Wills, Ritchie Spencer, Ed Osmond, Stewart Halstead, Tony Stafford and Jonathan Heynes, along with Tom Karen from Ogle to name just a few.  The book also contains new information along with GTE concept images from the 1990s that have not been published before.

Priced at £19.95 the book is available from Crecy Publishing, Amazon and all good book stores.

RMC Membership continues to climb
As always it is great to see new members and wonderful that so many existing members are renewing their memberships, many on a 2 year basis. We welcome all our new members and indeed welcome back those who have renewed.  The RMC continues to be global with members in Australia, France, Germany, India, Israel, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey. UK and the USA.    For those who are still thinking about it, remember that the club is for both Reliant owners and enthusiast and so you do not need to own a Reliant to join.

Supporting Reliant Clubs & Historical Organisations
One of the key aims of the RMC is to co-exist and work alongside other clubs and so we feel compelled to also thank the Reliant Sabre and Scimitar Owners Club, the Bug Club and the Kitten Register for all their encouragement and cooperation.  The RMC is also a member of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs, the Tamworth Heritage Trust and shares resources with the Staffordshire County Council Archives Department.  This month we have also teamed up with the Tamworth and District Civic Society.
