Our latest two speakers work in Tennis in New Zealand with youth development backgrounds. Read more about them below...
Emily Fanning Emily is the Head of Sport Science for Tennis New Zealand and is also currently undertaking her PhD in the area of Youth Tennis at AUT.
She is a qualified Strength and Conditioning coach and Physiotherapist, and has been working in both roles with International and National level players for the past 9 years. Both roles have had a central focus on the athletic development of Junior and young Senior players and this is also Emily’s targeted area of research.
Emily has also gained experience as the trainer for New Zealand Davis Cup and Fed Cup teams and additionally has worked with athletes of numerous other sports.
Dan Willman Dan is a former NZ #1 and Davis Cup player and achieved a ranking of 280 in the world. Dan was a top Junior in the country and earned a tennis scholarship to the US where he obtained his degree in Sports Science. Dan served as New Zealand under 14’s national selector and coach, leading the NZ Junior Davis Cup team to a 4th place finish, beating Team USA in the Czech Republic.
Over the last several years Dan has been based in the US working out of one of only five certified regional training centre where he worked in the High Performance space. Dan developed nationally ranked and internationally ranked players from a very young age through the teenage years, winning the most prestigious titles on the junior tennis pathway. Dan's players have won US National titles, Les Petits As in Tarbes, France, ITF junior tournaments, NCAA Team Championships, and ITF Pro Tournaments.
