In the Parish this weekend

Our church year begins afresh this weekend as we prepare to begin the countdown to Christmas.  Join us as we mark the start of our preparations with a special light and dark family Eucharist, and a quiet reflective Advent Carol service - times below.

We also warmly welcome both the Co-operative Funeral Service and their clients for their Annual Memorial Service, and some guests from the Diocesan link with the Nordkirche church in North Germany to our worship this weekend.

Parish Christmas Fair

A big thank you for all who attended and helped at the Christmas Fair.  A fantastic time was had by all, and we managed to raise over £3200 for parish funds.  Thanks to all involved!

Jim Penn RIP

Many of you will remember Jim Penn & his wife Pam from the time they lived next door to Brocton village hall.  Very sadly Jim passed away earlier this week, and we hold his family in our prayers at this time.  Jim's funeral will take place on the 14th December, with a service of thanksgiving being held at All Saints at 11.30am.

Coming Soon

Meaning in the Waiting

An Advent Quiet Day - from 10am Saturday 22nd December in Holy Trinity.  More information coming soon.

Irish Magda and Christmas Elf Dolls

Congratulations to John and Andrea who won the knitted dolls.  We managed to raise over £200 for the Parent and Toddler group - many thanks to everyone for their enthusiasm and generosity.

Things we discovered in school this week...

This week in our school -

  • We welcomed representatives from the Donna Louise Trust and heard a bit about how they looked after ill children and their families.
  • The gardening club made bird feeders to help our feathered friends get through the cold winter.  Honey and some bird seed was added to help keep them fed.
  • The choir sung to our Mothers' Union meeting today
  • The keys to Hollybush Coppice were handed over - allowing us to start Forest School - using natural resources to support our curriculum, including forest crafts, story-telling, writing and even carpentry skills.
Looking forward to seeing you all soon,

God bless,

Fr Graham
