COME TRAIN WITH US!

Ride for a Reason is gearing up for our 11th annual bike ride to Sacramento on April 27th. This event brings attention to the ongoing problem of underfunded public schools and raises money to support our partner schools. Last year, 250 students, teachers, parents and community members pedaled from Oakland to the steps of the State Capitol to advocate for greater funding for education and reform in the way that California funds its public schools. Registration for all distances is now open on our website. All levels and ages welcome. Photo above shows riders who completed a 16-mile bike training ride... for some the first time ever!

TONIGHT... THE PTA MEETING YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS!

Thursday, Dec. 6 join us in the music room at 6pm for Cactus Taqueria (YUM!), then at 6:30 the meeting will follow. Tim White, head of facilities at OUSD is visiting Claremont's PTA meeting in order to share information about and support our community in advocating for completing the long-envisioned construction and repair of the cafeteria. We will need to activate and push as a school community to make sure this happens, so please come gather information on how best to approach Oakland Unified School District on this issue.

We will also be voting in our new PTA VP, Theresa Wilkerson. Welcome, Theresa!

This contribution supports many important programs at Claremont for our students, including mini-grants, music, the 3D animation lab, the school garden and our beautiful school library. Adopt-a-family this 2018 Holiday Season!

As we approach the holiday season, we are seeking gift items to make the holidays a little bit brighter for several of our CMS students and their families. Please see link to learn more how you can help. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Give the Gift of Education

This holiday season, the best gift you can give your child is a good education. And the best place to get an education is in school. It’s tempting to extend your vacation by a few days, but remember, those days count as absences. Just a few missed days here and there, even if they’re excused absences, can add up to too much lost learning time. So make sure your child is in school every day, right up until vacation starts, and right when we return. Our teachers will be teaching, and our students will be learning.

Auction Stuff

If you purchased items at the auction before Thanksgiving, your items are at the front office with Ms. Smith. Please come pick them up.
