Old Ignatian kicking goals across Europe

Congratulations to Old Ignatian and former Adelaide United media manager, Marius Zanin (Class of 2005) who is one of the carefully selected international postgraduate students who recently commenced the 19th edition of the FIFA Master - International Master in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport. To his surprise Marius received a glowing reference from Barcelona legend, and former Adelaide United coach, Guillermo Amor. Guillermo and Marius remained friends after the pair went their separate ways following the 2016/17 A-League season ended where the Spaniard returned home. He is now responsible for institutional and sporting relations at Barcelona.

This intensive program is organised by the International Centre for Sport Studies (CIES) in partnership with three universities, De Montfort University in Leicester (England), SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan (Italy) and the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland).

The different modules will be studies across Europe where they are learning from a wide range of sports industry experts and renowned academics, the intensive programme will include field visits to some of the biggest names in the world of sport as the class complete their academic studies.

Once he graduates, Marius will have followed in the footsteps of another Old Ignatian James Kitching (Class of 2002) who also completed the course in 2012. James is now the director of Kitching Sports and was the former head of sports legal at the Asian Football Confederation.

Archives visit from the Dempsey brothers
The College recently had a special visit from two Old Ignatians, Peter Dempsey (Class of 1961) and his brother Brian Dempsey (Class of 1967).  Peter and Brian came to drop off some memorabilia from their schooldays, to one of their past classmates Peter Teakle (Class of 1966) who works in the College Archives.

If you have any items that you would like to donate to the College for safe keeping, for example uniforms, photos, report cards, memorabilia etc, please contact oia@ignatius.sa.edu.au and we can organise a time for you to come in for a visit.

Thank you Peter and Brian for your generous contribution.
A visit from Greg Norris
Last month we welcomed Old Ignatian Greg Norris (Class of 1974) back to the College, to acknowledge the donation of a bench seat from his late mother Leonora Norris, which has been placed at the front of the Bourke Oval.
Greg enjoyed a tour of the Senior School and shared many memories of his time at the College with Father Peter Hosking SJ, also from the Class of 1974.
We thank Greg and his family for this gift.
