"And the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which shall be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths, and lying in a manger'" [Luke 2:9-12].

Hi, Friend,
A Christmas Message from Peter Wade
What a joy it is to send you Christmas blessings from sunny South Australia. We really appreciate you allowing our ministry into your life twice a month, as well as your prayer support and book purchases.

In thinking of the Christmas season, I'm recalling one Christmas in our second pastorate when I preached on "Fear Not" every Sunday in December. The key verse was “Fear Not… behold a Savior” (Luke 2:10-11). Four times in the Christmas record the message from God was to "fear not."

I've read somewhere that in the Bible there are enough "Fear not" statements for you to read one every day of the year! So during this Christmas season, when the so-called "free world" has gone crazy in politics and public behavior, we need to persuade ourselves to "fear not," for the baby of Bethlehem became our Savior and now lives in us. That means we can handle whatever life throws our way and become victorious every time.

Thanks to all of you who prayed and supported Vivien and I in our challenges this year: one fall for me and two for Vivien certainly changed our lives for at least half the year! Many who knew about it prayed for us, others supported us, and one board member on behalf of the board came from the US to look after us. We were deeply grateful and touched, and recovery is well advanced. Thank you.

CHRISTMAS BLESSINGS to you all,

In this age of diminishing biblical literacy, we have to ask "why is it so?" As one author wrote in 1907: "The Bible is not enjoyed because the Bible is not understood."

More than a century later, the situation has vastly deteriorated. In the US, below 40% of Americans who have a Bible never open it! In the UK it is worse, with 60% of Church of English-followers never reading the Bible.

In this book, Peter Wade artfully leads you through the first simple steps to understanding what the Bible is saying.
  • Accept the integrity of God's Word.
  • Read what is written in an essentially literal translation -- and believe what you read.
  • Mark your Bible to aid your memory.
  • Look for repetitions, contrasts, comparisons.
  • Note the little words that have big impact, such as prepositions.
All this and more in 17 powerful chapters with many examples from the wisdom of a lifetime of Bible teaching. Plus an Introduction to Figures of Speech for those who want to dig deeper.

This 88 page book is rich with instruction and illumination. It's perfect for group Bible study too, complete with a discount for multiple copies!
