A fruitful Sustainable Forestry Workshop took place in Estonia.
The 3rd Forestry Workshop was organised on October 18-21, in Alutaguse Parish in Estonia. During 2 days, we shared realities and vision of sustainable forestry management in Estonia and 9 other participating countries. The organising triangle Liis Kuresoo (ELF), Gwil Wren (EuCAN CiC /) and Simone Matouch (Forum Synergies) thank all participants for these amazing days.
Ideas for the 4th workshop are already in the air!
Some presentations given during the Market of Initaives are already online

Meeting on Farmers and Local Ecological Knowlegde : From 4 to 6 October 2018, GEYSER association and 6 regional natural parks in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (Sud) region in France organised a meeting with partners from Spain, Romania and Tunisia on Farmers Ecological Knowledge. This was an opportunity to discover the local territories experiences (on water management, promotion of old fruit varieties, agro-ecological practices etc), to promote exchanges between participants in order to enrich their practices but also to study the possibilities of co-operation on FEK between the participant countries.  Forum Synergies has been participating in the meeting and a future cooperation is on study!

Democracy not for sale:  The struggle for food sovereignty in the age of austerity in Greece. This Report elaborated by TNI, FIAN and Agroecopolis examines the impacts of austerity in Greece on the right to food. It concludes that the Greek State and the Eurozone Member States violated the Greek people’s right to food as a result of the austerity measures required by three Memorandums of Understanding (2010, 2012 and 2015). In other words, the austerity packages imposed on Greece contravened international human rights law.

Impact of European Rural Parliament. Our colleagues from  European Rural Parliament were delighted to inform that on October 3, the European Parliament produced a Resolution addressing the specific needs of rural, mountainous and remote areas (2018/2720 (RSP). The Venhorst Declaration is specifically mentioned in this Resolution. The purpose of the Resolution is to activate the European Union to come up with concrete actions. The ERP partners are happy to see that their efforts are having an impact and will be keeping track of the progress of the Resolution.
Save the date!  The 4th ERP will take place on November 6-9, 2019, in Canvas municipality, in Asturias (Spain).

Seven case studies of agroecological transition. It is possible for communities, regions and whole countries to fundamentally redesign their food and farming systems - but doing so requires changes in the way communities envision their food systems, the way knowledge is shared, the way that food systems are governed, and the values underpinning them. This was the message from IPES-Food's new report, "Breaking away from industrial food and farming systems: Seven case studies of agroecological transition".

·“"Roade și merinde" (Fruit and vegetables”)” (Romania) : "Roade și merinde" is the brand promoted by the local food hub in Iasi and the North-East region in Romania. Promoted by the Center for Mediation and Community Security, its mission is to stimulate the community around and to build a sustainable and fair regional food system, through a locally sourced on-line platform that connects farmers and their products to consumers. As a social enterprise, it should contribute to viable development for 100 small farmers in the region, having alongside the classic role of aggregating production « Farm-to-consumer ».
