Global Game Jam ® 2019 is taking place this January from Friday 25 to Sunday 27. Currently over 3500 jammers have already registered in 409 jam sites across 77 countries, and it's still growing! More locations are added every day, so see our live status map for the latest updates.
We are also excited to welcome five new countries (so far!) for GGJ19: Kenya, Kazakhstan, Iraq, Ivory Coast, and Kosovo.
No GGJ19 event near you? There is still time to register a jam site! If you have been thinking about registering but have not yet applied, now is the time. Register your jam location by January 4th. The only things you need to open a jam site are a dedicated organizer and a jam venue with internet access. Read our frequently asked questions to learn more about setting up a site.
If your local site is not accepting registrations via GlobalGameJam.org yet, check with them directly as they may have a local sign up process.

Five reasons to choose CRYENGINE for GGJ
|
|
CRYENGINE isn’t just powerful; it’s designed for rapid iteration and quick prototyping, perfect for Global Game Jam. If you haven’t tried CRYENGINE, here’s why you should:
1: Zero to amazing in no time
With real-time lighting, global illumination, and the legendary CRYENGINE renderer, it’s easy to make your game look amazing fast.
2: Build compelling demos quickly
Install the free GameSDK to get your hands on thousands of free assets and functionality you can use to rapidly create your prototype.
3: No coding!
Flow Graph is an easy to use visual scripting tool you can use to create complete game mechanics. We use it to make our own games.
4: Learn by building a game
Our free beginner’s course provides a fun introduction to most of the major systems while you build a fully functional “flappy boid” style game.
5: Performance and scalability
Build games with a tool that will make your work look as good as it can possibly look. You won’t outgrow the engine’s power as your game designs evolve.

Where are They Now?
In Costa Rica for the 2014 Global Game Jam, triplets got together and made a game which would turn out to be their first step working together as indie game developers.
Their game got published by Bulkypix, and released to thousands of players. They now employ 6 people at their studio Tree Interactive, and will be organising a GGJ site for 2019.
