LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT
In the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas, the tone and tenor of our society change quite drastically.

As pumpkins are replaced by twinkly Christmas trees, so are the lingering angst and struggle of this past year replaced by unparalleled generosity and love.

In the book of the Prophet Isaiah 11:5-8 which speaks of the hope and glory of the long awaited Messiah we hear, "Justice shall be the band around his waist, and faithfulness a belt upon his hips. Then the wolf shall be a guest of the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat; the calf and the young lion shall browse together, with a little child to guide them. The cow and the bear shall graze, together their young shall lie down; the lion shall eat hay like the ox. The baby shall play by the viper’s den, and the child lay his hand on the adder’s lair."

The vivid imagery of this passage from Isaiah reminds us how our own generosity, kindness, mercy, forgiveness and tenderness can positively transform the relationships in which we live. How these attributes of the Christ Child can be owned in our own commitment to allowing Christ to work through us.

At Bishop Kelley three of our core values invite us to actively live this care and respect every day, not just in these Advent and Christmas days. Imagine the possibilities if we lived each day with a deep awareness of the presence of God in every aspect of our lives - keeping the poor and those in need at the forefront of our minds and always and everywhere upholding the dignity oof each person.

Bishop Kelley, may we all allow the power of the Christ Child and the glory of this season to affect our hearts today and every day of our lives.

Live Jesus in our Hearts! Forever!

Happy Advent and Merry Christmas.

Rev. Gary Kastl
President
