Jane Scott & Tom Brett join Finn's

Jane Scott joined our team this autumn as Planning Consultant. She may be a familiar face to many of you as she's been advising on planning issues in Kent for a number of years.

As a member of the Finn's commercial team, Jane is advising on all areas of planning work including residential developments, commercial developments, conversions, removal of conditions, Certificates of Lawful Use, changes of use of land and buildings, site submissions and representations through to allocations, planning appeals and general planning advice.
Another Autumn starter, Tom Brett, joined us as a Graduate Surveyor in our Commercial team. Tom is fresh from Harper Adams University where he completed his degree in Agri-Business.

Tom is working with Mark, Julian and Jane on the full range of commercial work from development applications, changes of use of land and buildings, sales, valuations and lots more. We look forward to introducing him to clients over the coming months.

Planning Consent : Selson Farm, Eastry

Potwash Planning: This summer Mark Chandler secured planning permission for a change of use and new structures including an ablutions block of toilets, showers and dishwashing facilities at Selson Farm's campsite, Fallow Fields.

The new structure will replace the surprisingly resilient 'potwash' made in 2014 from a few pallets and plenty of ingenuity. We will be featuring Selson Farm's campsite business in an Instagram case study in 2019. Please follow Finn's on Instagram for insights into this innovative business.

National Grid : Richborough Connection

National Grid has completed construction of its new overhead electricity line: the Richborough Connection runs from Richborough to Canterbury. Over the past few weeks, contractors have been building pylons as quickly as one a day to meet project deadlines.

Reinstatement work has begun and tree-planting is scheduled for the first quarter of 2019. Meanwhile, testing of the new line will continue for a further 6-12 months and the pre-existing 132kV line is unlikely to be removed until 2020.

Development : St Nicholas At Wade

Following the successful completion of the sale of two greenfield sites on Manor Road, St Nicholas At Wade, planning consent for a total of 69 dwellings. We look forward to seeing work commence on these developments shortly.

We see a particularly strong opportunity to promote smaller edge of village sites as well as sites for care homes and assisted living. To discuss the sale, purchase and planning of residential development schemes in East Kent, please call Mark ChandlerJane Scott, Nick Rooke or Jim Pace in our Commercial Property team on 01304 612147, 01227 454111 or 01843 848230.

Farm Productivity Grants

This round of grants may be the last opportunity to benefit from European grants. We have secured a 40% worth £191,000 for a new liquid fertiliser spreader for a farmer in Thanet. You will soon see this beast on the road and in the fields.

For more details about the Countryside Productivity Schemes, please visit the GOV.UK website. To discuss your grant application, please contact Jim Pace on 01843 848230.
