Wintry Mix

I have a love / hate relationship with Holiday / Christmas Music. Needless to say my playlist this month doesn't have any in it. It does have some cool jams to chill with by the fire or for your next impromptu snowball fight. I'm pleasantly surprised by the how good the new David Crosby album is. Scroll on down to check out my monthly playlist if you need a break from the Jingle Bells.

Read on for some new project updates, upcoming events, continuing collaborations and more.

HAND TURKEY CHALLENGE WINNER ANNOUNCED

Below is the winning entry to my hand turkey challenge. Congrats to Derek Cronin, owner of Asheville Merchant Advocates

Two 10 packs of my art postcards and a custom drawn hand turkey are heading your way Derek.

Break on Through

Derek is also a fellow practitioner at Asheville Sun Soo Martial Arts. I'll be testing for my red belt there this weekend. This is the last testing event in their new space before they reopen at their new location in the River Ridge shopping center in January. These testing events are free and open to the public and offer inspiration insight into what a dedicated practice can empower. There is also a holiday potluck at the end on Saturday. If you have any curiosity about martial arts this a great way to get a feel for the school. There will be laughter and tears.

Work in Progress

We're knee deep in the marsh working on logo branding for our client Blue Earth Planning, Engineering & Design, PC. "Blue Earth’s mission is to provide innovative water resources planning, engineering and design within a company framework which values the earth, people, and future generations over profit.”

We're currently in our design phase exploring imagery around riparian topography and turtle island imagery. (Any other Discworld fans out there?)

Below is the moodboard, which is part of the collaborative design process where we select inspirational imagery that represents the mood we are looking to evoke with the brand design. Read More

Final Thoughts

My family experienced a loss this past Thanksgiving week. I want to thank everyone who has reached out to us during this difficult time. Death has a way of bringing the unresolved matters of the heart to a head and assisting those who are acutely suffering with the loss is a much larger challenge than the actual loss itself. Please remember that the holidays have a way of bringing feelings of loss and loneliness to the fore and it is actually our suffering, even more than love that provides the opportunity to bring us together. If we let it. If we are willing to be present with suffering rather than running away from it.

Lend a hand and compassionate ear to those in need and don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. There is no greater gift than the gift of our presence and attention, suspending judgement and our own ego.

Currently I'm reading "When Things Fall Apart, Heart Advice for Difficult Times" by Pema Chodron. I recommend it for anyone curious about working with their suffering toward positive transformation.
