Christmas Street Thank You
Another Christmas Street has come and gone. Though chilly and wet, folks lined downtown streets for the Annual Christmas Street Parade. A little sad weather didn't stop Aberdeen from celebrating this exciting time of year!
A special thanks and kudos for a job well done go to Mrs. Caroline Curry, Mrs. Ruth Frank and their volunteers for their dedication to the Christmas Street Celebration. It's not an easy job to plan, coordinate, and execute the biggest event in Aberdeen. If you are interested in volunteering for the 2019 Christmas Street Celebration, please give Mrs. Curry a call at (410) 272-5242.

If you see them, please help get them back to their home in time for Christmas. Contact Todd Piper at (410) 404-0223 or Michelle at (443) 752-5235. A $200 reward will be given if Daisy and Chloe are returned safely.  Both dogs are microchipped.
History Repeats Itself
Think back when you were a child, living in Aberdeen. Were there stores that are now forgotten? Maybe you worked at Dell's Pharmacy or shopped at Tarring's Hardware. Did you sit in the crowd along West Bel Air Avenue with your parents or grandparents and enjoy the Christmas Street Parade?
Fast forward to today and many of the stores may be gone but the memories still remain.
Times have changed. Many have stopped reading newspapers only to find that much of the news on social media is half true. Families that used to travel hundreds of miles for holidays together now video chat. Shoppers use websites to purchase goods. Today, you can get your groceries without even leaving the house!
While Aberdeen is on the move, we still have that "small town charm". Business owners know each other by name. Mail carriers still greet patrons on their routes, and our community enjoys the annual events it's known for. This holiday season while you are shopping, keep the traditions alive and shop locally. Say hello to the shop owners, see what they have in store, and purchase something. Years from now, your grandchildren may grow up and recall special times at these Ma and Pa shops. In order to keep our merchants doors open in Aberdeen, they need your support. This holiday season, remember to keep it local!

From Your Aberdeen Lions Club
One of the Aberdeen Lions Club service projects is to support the Local Empty Stocking Fund toy collection. This collection is also open to anyone who would like to donate a new toy to this awesome cause. We have two drop off points. One at 607 Paradise Road, Aberdeen, MD and the second one at Century 21 off Philadelphia Blvd, Aberdeen, MD. Christmas is for the children. There are children who don't experience Christmas the way our children and/or grandchildren get to experience it. No gifts, no new clothes, little food. Open up your hearts and help us make this one of the best collection years we have ever had. Personally, it hurts my heart to think that someone will go without toys or even any expression of love and joy. Time is running out, the toys will be picked up the first part of December. Think of the need as you are out and about doing Christmas shopping. There are tons of sales and good prices as the economy tries to promote their stores and merchandise.
