2018 International Highlights
International partnerships were a key element of 2018 for CWRU as the university renewed its relationship with Taipei Medical University (TMU), celebrated 30 years of collaboration with Uganda and connected students studying abroad with alumni living around the world.
A delegation of visitors from TMU including its new president, Professor Chien-Huang Lin, traveled to CWRU in March to extend the partnership between the two institutions for another five years. CWRU and TMU have worked together on a variety of initiatives across multiple schools including joint degree programs and the TMU/CWRU Translational Collaborative Pilot Program.
A major international milestone in 2018 was the 30th anniversary celebration of the Uganda-CWRU Research Collaboration which began in response to the HIV/AIDS crisis and continues to have an important impact in the country.

Say My Name Workshop January 16
A new semester often means working with a new set of students, and since about 20 percent of CWRU students come from other countries, the Center for International Affairs wants to help you correctly pronounce their names! All faculty and staff are invited to attend the next Say My Name Workshop where Elizabeth Miller, Assistant Director of International Student Services, will offer guidance on name pronunciation in various languages. She will also provide information about how to support international students in the classroom.
This event is part of the Center's Global Talk series which provides assistance to faculty and staff in the areas of internationalization, international student support and study abroad. The workshop will be held Wednesday, January 16 at 1:00 pm in Nord Hall, Room 356.
