A Great Day to be Guatemalan!
Today is a special day for the Guatemalan ICT4D sector. USAID recently released a $17 million dollar Improved Health and Nutrition Activity Request for Proposal that names a Technology and Innovation Advisor as a key personnel, which means every strong bidder must include a named person to fill this role in their proposal.
The Position Requirements
The RFP states that the Technology and Innovation Advisor will be responsible for the development of an approach that integrates science, information and communication technology and innovation approaches into activities.
S/he will propose and offer guidance on programming that increases the use of technology, including digital technologies, to improve development outcomes and to empower communities.
The minimum requirements for this position are:
- A Bachelor’s degree or above in Media, Communications, Technology, Innovation Management, International Development or a related subject, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience working in technology and innovation/entrepreneurship, and/or international development.
- Direct experience promoting user-friendly and sustainable technology solutions or other innovations for vulnerable populations.
Options for Guatemalan ICT4D Experts
This RFP is somewhat unique for the international development community as it is a new activity - there is no current incumbent - so many quality players are developing proposals with an aim to win this new project.
That means Guatemalan ICT4D experts have a pick of opportunities. There are at least five major organizations recruiting for this position:
