146 Rio Texas Churches Recognized
by Safe Gatherings

Safe Gatherings partners with the Rio Texas Annual Conference in the process of certifying congregations, staff, and volunteers in our Trusted con Confianza child, youth, and adult safety program. Safe Gatherings recognizes churches that have demonstrated a sincere commitment to the program. Congregations are selected based on the number or percentage of people certified through the program and will receive special window clings so members and guests can be made aware of the church's commitment to the safety of children, youth, and vulnerable adults

The Rio Texas Conference is proud to recognize these churches who share in our collective mission to protect the most vulnerable among us.

Should your church be the next
Project Transformation Site?

Partnering with Project Transformation to be a site for programming for children can help re-anchor your congregation in your neighborhood.  Church development that happens in partnership with Project Transformation is multidimensional and interdisciplinary.

This year's application is available for the San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley areas for 2019 and 2020 and Austin area churches for summer 2020.
Site churches are chosen based on
  • Neighborhood Opportunity
  • Missional Readiness
  • Lay Engagement
  • Leadership Engagement
  • Location
Project Transformation is not looking for churches who have it all accomplished (they don't need us) but we are looking for churches with passion and intention.

You can find more information and the application by clicking here

TRUSTed con Confianza facilitators lead the required certification trainings when requested by ministry leaders, congregations, and districts. Facilitators do this work by providing in person or online trainings for gathered communities. The format includes videos, conversation, and questions. Facilitators seek to ensure persons are equipped to live out the Rio Texas Conference safety policy in their individual contexts.

We are looking for more leaders who are gifted and called to join our facilitation team.

Information about this ministry and the application can be found at: riotexas.org/safe (Look for the Trusted Facilitator Logo)

The training retreat is scheduled for Feb 1-2. Rev. Joy Melton (author of Safe Sanctuaries) will once again be our key note speaker for this training.

If you feel called to this ministry we invite you to apply now: riotexas.org/safe

If you know someone with the gifts for this work we encourage you to share this information with them.

Questions? Contact Rev. Dr. Tanya Campen (tcampen@riotexas.org)
