You can help prevent genocide!
Dear Friend:
The massacre that took place on Saturday, October 27that Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life synagogue has sent shockwaves through our country and beyond. We now know that anti-Semitic violence can happen in America. The FBI report on hate crimes issued just the other day confirms this sad fact. According to the report, while African-Americans accounted for nearly half of hate crime victims last year, of those targeted based on religion, 58 percent were Jewish, up from 54.2% in 2016.
Nevertheless, we at the Gross Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies continue to believe that education is our best hope for reversing this sad trend. Our struggle must continue.
In this effort, we are fortunate to be recipients of a matching challenge grant of $250,000 ($50,000 yearly for five years) from the Gross Foundation. As the year draws to a close, we need your support to secure this critical funding. Thanks to your gift, we met our participation goal for the match payment last year. For us to continue to benefit from the Gross Family’s generosity, we need your help again.
On this #GivingTuesday, November 27th, please give us your support. You make the work we do happen. You enable us ito assist students, educators and the general public to learn the history and lessons of the Holocaust, the Armenian Genocide and similar tragedies. Together, we can combat intolerance and indifference. Your help to build an educated public is essential.
Remember that, under the terms of the Gross Foundation Challenge Grant, your donation is effectively doubled.
Thank you for your commitment to the Gross Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Ramapo College.
We wish you and your families a joyous and healthy holiday season.
