Guess what?! We are the proud, new owners of a 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado! We just ordered it from Japan, and it will arrive in about 6 weeks. It’s low mileage, powerful, capable, and spacious. We love how it’s simple enough to be reliable, common enough to easily get parts, and fancy enough to be comfortable even off-road. Imagine a few years from now when it has countless stories of climbing sand dunes, fording rivers, and splattering mud for the sake of spreading the Gospel!
Why did we need a new vehicle? Pete has an awesome work vehicle—A 1997 Jeep Cherokee (check it out to the right). While this is a great rugged work vehicle for Pete, it’s not adequate for daily-driving and expeditions now that there are two of us (and more eventually). Our other vehicle, a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, is the one we’re trading out for the Toyota Prado. We bought it last year from a friend who was moving, and we got it for a steal because it needed some work. After a year of driving and fixing it, we’re selling it for more than we paid and putting that money toward the Prado. It served us very well, but it revealed our need to invest in a more spacious and comfortable vehicle that will last 10+ years of African roads.
We’re inviting you to be a part of this journey. The only remainder is $5,200 in necessary maintenance and upgrades to make it off-road worthy. Would you consider making a donation toward that goal?

This same transformation is what's required for our new Prado. A roof rack is vital for fuel and expedition supplies. A suspension lift is great for clearing deep water, scaling large rocks, and navigating uneven terrain. A bull bar adds a dramatic increase in safety from unexpected animals in the road.
The road to town crosses a river. A vehicle snorkel and lifted suspension protect the engine from water.
