Hello there Friend,

Can you imagine the feeling of striking down a law that immediately affects the lives of millions of people – because guess what! The lawyers who helped to decriminalize homosexuality in India will be joining us at OutSummit to share that moment!

This is the final week you can purchase your OutSummit ticket to  join us!

Our major plenary session will feature Menaka Guruswamy and Arundhati Katju, the lawyers who petitioned the Indian Supreme Court to strike down Article 377 of the Penal Code, ending the criminalization of millions. The decision to overturn Article 377 was finalized September 6, 2018 - but its repercussions are being felt throughout the world.

OutRight Board Member, Karamo Brown from Netflix's Queer Eye, will also speak - you'll have the chance to learn about a variety of topics that affect global LGBTIQ equality.

Also, your ticket to OutSummit allows you to attend our after-party at MoMA PS1 for delicious food and drinks, with a final chance to mingle with LGBTIQ activists from around the world!

This year's conference will again be co-hosted by our generous partners, the Sorensen Center for International Peace and Justice, CUNY School of Law as well as the CUNY Law Review.

Please read on below for more information about some of the featured speakers.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Best,

About OutSummit

OutSummit is a one-day conference, hosted by OutRight Action International, a global LGBTIQ Human Rights organization, and co-hosted by CUNY School of Law and the Sorensen Center for International Peace and Justice. OutSummit brings together international and US-based LGBTIQ activists for a day of speakers and workshops to address the challenges and opportunities to advance rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, sexual orientation, gender identity, and intersex issues globally.

OutSummit wraps up OutRight Advocacy Week at the United Nations, where LGBTIQ activists sit across the table from the world’s most pivotal governments and UN officials to name their priorities and demand accountability. Over 40 activists will be arriving in New York City to share their experiences advocating for LGBTIQ people around the world and learn together in a collaborative environment. During OutSummit, you will hear from these activists through panels, workshops, and presentations.

In recent years, OutSummit has featured LGBTIQ advocates from countries like Iraq, Egypt, Germany, Argentina and China, and it has featured speakers like the US Special Envoy for LGBTI Rights and the Vice-Mayor of the largest city in the Philippines. More details can be found about this year's event as well as last year at OutSummit.org
