THE ADVENT SEASON BEGINS THIS WEEKEND - This Sunday, December 2, is the First Sunday of Advent. So what is Advent all about? How is Advent different than Christmas? Busted Halo explains the significance of this special season in the Church and why the experience of waiting, hope, and preparation is still so important in our lives today.
ADVENT RECONCILIATION - In a special way during the season of Advent, our Church asks us to use this time to prepare for the coming of our Lord by experiencing the grace and mercy found in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We have many opportunities for you to do so. Confessions will be heard every Saturday from 3:30 - 4:30 pm, on Wednesdays, December 5 & 12 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm, and on Monday, December 17 from 9:00 - 11:00 am. There will also be a Community Penance Service on Wednesday, December 19 beginning at 6:30 pm.

ADVENT "IN THE PRESENCE OF (IN PRESENZA DI)" NIGHTS - Our Advent sessions will be Wednesdays, December 5 & 12 from 6:30 - 7:45 pm in the Daily Mass Chapel. “In the Presence of,” or "In Presenza Di" in Italian, is an opportunity for the entire community to gather before the Blessed Sacrament for a time of prayer, praise, teaching and adoration. Based on an old Franciscan devotion, this contemplative night contains praise & worship, silence, scripture, a reflection, and adoration all done in the
presence of our Lord in the Eucharist. Each evening will have a different person giving the reflection: December 5: Fr. Eric Tellez and December 12: Scott Bagshaw. In addition Adam, Edel & Rocky will be leading the music. For more information, contact Adam at astein@stpatcc.org and you can Click here to download the flyer.

ADVENT SOCK DRIVE - Each weekend during Advent we will be collecting white socks for people experiencing homelessness. This is an ongoing need all year, but especially now as it gets colder. Your generosity will benefit those served by: Justa Center, André House, Paz de Cristo, and Circle the City. We are asking parishioners to bring the socks to the altar when they bring up their offering and place them in the baskets around the altar.

LESSONS & CAROLS: You are Blessed, Now Begin - On Tuesday, December 18 at 7:00 pm, the St. Patrick Music Ministry invites everyone to join them for a night of stories and song featuring the Adult, Singing Angels, and Youth & Young Adult Choirs. This combined musical effort is truly a night you will never forget! There is a dessert potluck following the event. Click here to download the flyer
BEATITUDES PODCAST: EPISODE 3 - This week we released the third episode of our Beatitudes Podcast. John Konicek and guests break open the third Beatitude, "Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land." Use the player below to listen to this latest episode.
ST. PAT CHAPTER CHAT - We have begun a brand new book club to help us grow in our understanding and encourage discussion around our annual theme! Brian Cannon, Director of Evangelization and Family Life, will lead the “St. Pat Chapter Chat” on Stu G’s book Words From the Hill on the first Thursday of the month from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. Our next session is December 6 in the Pope rooms in the Parish Office. You can join the chat at any time. Each session will focus on specific chapters of the book. Books will be available for purchase in the Narthex this weekend after Masses, or at any time by contacting Brian Cannon in the Parish Office or bcannon@stpatcc.org. We have a limited supply of specially priced books for $10 each (Cheaper than Amazon). Click here to download the flyer.

OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE CELEBRATION - Join us on Friday, December 14 at 6:30 pm for a special celebration in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Fr. Eric will be the principal celebrant and there will be a procession carrying the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe into the Church. Mass will begin with a special presentation of a children’s play. After Mass, a reception will follow in Fenlon Hospitality Center with Mexican food provided by El Caminero Catering with a free will offering. Click here to download the flyer.
MEN'S MASS & BREAKFAST - All men are invited! Saturday, December 15 from 8:30 - 10:30 am. Our speaker, Todd Bankofier, currently serves as CEO of AudioEye, a public software company with an SaaS product that provides a state of the art technology providing web accessibility services. Previously, he has run and operated numerous companies and organizations in Arizona. He is actively involved in his community and St. Patrick, but his main love is his family, wife Kim and their three children Kylee, Scooter, and Bailey. For more information, contact: Brian Cannon, Director of Evangelization & Family Life at 480-998-3843 ext. 104 or bcannon@stpatcc.org and Click here to download the flyer.
ADVENT PRAYER CHALLENGE - We live in a culture that highly values doing. What did you do today? What did you mark off your to-do list? Yet, as Catholics we know our value is found in our being, not in our doing. This Advent, we invite you to join our St. Patrick Catholic Community Advent Prayer Challenge...

“Be” Attitudes

In anticipation of the birth of Jesus, let us strive to be Christ-like, emphasizing living over doing. You can find the Advent Prayer Challenge in the Advent Packets which were mailed to every registered parishioner or you can click here to download your own version. (Did we mention copies available in the Narthex this weekend?)

Use the prompts and prayers to focus on how you want “to be” this Advent in order to positively influence all those things you wish “to do.” In preparation for Christmas, may these “be” attitudes allow you to reconnect with the kindness, patience, gratitude, and hope that imitate the One we anticipate.

GIVING, PRAYING & SERVING - A Note from Diane...

On Stewardship Sunday, some visitors approached me sharing how overjoyed they were with our liturgy. This couple has traveled all over the country visiting different Catholic churches on their journeys, and they had never experienced anything this joy-filled and life-giving before as our community. Ironically, they were in town for the Cardinals game and had found our parish.

We stood and chatted for a bit and as we said our goodbyes, the wife shared these wise words, “don’t take for granted what you have here at your church. There is nothing out there like this. It is special.”

As we round out the month of November, a month traditionally focused on gratitude,  I want to make sure and thank our parish family for making this community like “no other.” Thank you for your countless hours of service, your never ending prayers and your generous financial gifts. May we never take for granted what we have here in our community and be grateful for all that we have.

Thank you!
