Mental health services #AVeryDifferentConversation

Over the past few months, with our partners, we have collected almost 15,000 comments, which have been used to developed a draft mental health and emotional wellbeing strategy for west and east Suffolk.

We'd very much appreciate it if you would take some time to read the draft strategy and associated documents and give your views. Are the comments you gave reflected in the document? Please tell us by taking a short survey.

We really want to hear your views on our work to date, so we can continue having a #verydifferentconversation to help create a very different future for the people of Suffolk.

Grab bag survey - closes soon

We've already had more than 200 responses, which is fantastic!

If you're aged 14 - 18 please take this survey before the closing date of December 7

Please help us with our new initiative to launch the ‘Grab Bag’ in Suffolk.

This is a discreet bag given out to young people presenting in A&E that contains vital information for our young community about local services.

Please take this short survey.

We want to find out what young people would find useful i.e. mental health services / benefits advice / local hostels or shelters / freebies etc.

This short survey will help us identify which services to include and give you an opportunity to put ideas forward.

If you are a young person aged 14-18, a parent/carer or professional working with vulnerable youngsters, we want to hear from you.

The Chilton Club in Sudbury

Our friends at Age UK Suffolk have asked us to share this information with you, about a service supporting older people living with dementia

The Chilton Club is a specialist day service in Sudbury for older people living with dementia. Open Monday to Friday we provide a safe, stimulating and fun environment for those with memory problems and dementia and a much needed respite for family carers.

In a society where social isolation and loneliness is so prevalent we offer support and companionship and can be a means of delaying or preventing a premature progression to a higher, acute service.

We cater for a maximum of 12 people each day supported by dedicated and trained staff. Members enjoy a wide variety of activities throughout the day, many of which we have had custom made to suit all abilities. We hold regular events and theme weeks, such as Wild West Week, 1960’s etc. and decorate the club to suit each season or theme, keeping the environment fresh, stimulating, vibrant and fun. Family carers are always welcome and encouraged to visit and participate in events.

Prospective new members are invited to be our guest for a “Taster Day” to assess if the service we offer is for them.

For more information or book a taster day please call Jilly 01787 376990 jilly.vince@ageuksuffolk.org

Joint Strategic Needs Assessment Survey

Suffolk County Council has asked us to share a survey link, asking for your views on how to improve the county's Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA).

The JSNA aims to answer questions about our local population such as:  How many people are there? What are their key demographics (for example age and gender)? Where do they live? How healthy are Suffolk residents? What factors influence this?
