What Does It Look Like When Students Do Real, Real-World Work?
"Real-world work for a real impact." "Learning outside of the classroom." "Transforming Education." We say these kinds of things all the time, but what does it look like when it actually happens?
In this week's Prototype, we highlight the work (both of which are magazine publications) by students at Mount Vernon Presbyterian School who have taken their learning far beyond the classroom.
The first example is a class of Upper School Students who helped edit, source, and produce a globally distributed magazine, Child Art, that is available in both print and digital formats.
The students who worked on ChildArt were approached by the publisher to create a unique partnership, in this next example - students took it upon themselves to self-publish.
"The purpose of Trailblazers is to create a platform for young learners around the world to be able to share their stories and opinions on transformative education in a collective format." -Anya Smith-Roman, co-curator
