Hello again!

I wanted to continue my quarterly check in... So ta-da!  If you haven't already, add me on Instagram to see what I've been up to!  I'll warn you, I post A LOT. (But really.  Too much.)  Sorry!  There are, of course, several dance videos... so it's a professional endeavor.  I'm an #Influencer.
First of all, I've now been in Japan for a little over three months!  I'll be here for a while longer, and I have been absolutely loving my time thus far!  Every weekend I explore new places and relish in the apparent Japanese-ness of it all - whether it is re-imagined western food like corn dogs and croquettes; choreographed dance breaks by electronic store workers; regional nature expeditions into the mountains/water/seasonal gardens and forests; shrines with vending machines and temples with mascots; incredibly physical TV entertainment; countless train stations and somehow even more malls; varied transportation including bikes, ferries, and sky gondolas; learning bits and pieces of a language I can't imagine mastering; sharing and comparing my experiences will fellow ex-pats; and how seemingly all bars and karaoke places have three-hour all-you-can-drink options.

It's a weird, gorgeous world here.
Since we last spoke, my Fringe show went live!  The Philadelphia Fringe Festival played host to How To Dance, my brand-new dance library.  Eleanor Goudie-Averill of thINKingDANCE fame wrote a review of the collection asking, "Does it matter if you enact the scores, or just read through them?" Please decide for yourself, and check them out for a minute (or two).
Back in Iowa City, 1/2 of stb x at, Dr. Andy Thierauf, performed trio. with Meredith Stapleton.  This is, I believe, one of the first times another dancer performed in one of our works sans me.  MFA-candidate Stapleton wonderfully interpreted the minimalist dance score at the beautiful new Voxman Music Building on campus.  Definitely worth a click.
October brought my first "performance" in Japan.  The Lotano Livestream series is, as the detailed title suggests, a series of online improvisations shot in my "mansion" (this is literally the English-gone-Japanese term for a concrete apartment building) and is my means of formal presentation at the moment.  Yes, my building is called The Lotano.  Life is odd.
Regardless, I'll be performing the next iteration... tomorrow!

Lotano Livestream No. 2 is on November 30th, 2018 at 8:00 AM PST.

Wake up to my beautiful dancing.  Please.  The livestream will be hosted on my #professional Facebook Page, Sean Thomas Boyt. Of course.
See you tomorrow!

xoxo,
STB
