A NOTE FROM THE GUILD OFFICERS

Hello Fellow Knitters!

This is an exciting time in the guild as we've welcomed so many new and returning members recently, and we have a really exciting meeting planned for December. It was wonderful to see so many of you at our November meeting. In anticipation of an even stronger turnout for the amazing and nationally renowned Bristol Ivy on December 1, we're even meeting at the Walker Memorial Library in Westbrook as they can accommodate more of the group. Don't miss this chance to attend a free (with paid membership) Shawl Shapes class with Bristol. We'll also have more news at that time on future meeting locations.

It's also that time of the year when some of us knit or craft gifts for others - and some of us say "no way!"  As we've discussed at guild meetings and on the Maine Yarn podcast, only we knitters truly understand all that goes into the slow magic that is knitting. For me, I hope to be able to debut my finished Wallaby sweater at our next meeting (finally!) as, of course, I made it for myself.

See you all soon, and happy knitting!

Julie Nye
Vice President

Dues

Dues through the end of the year remain $15. Please try to bring your renewal payments beginning in October. Your support will allow our group to add more classes, vendors, and field trips to our calendar. Please continue to spread the word about the guild to increase our membership, which will benefit us all!  If you need more Guild business cards to distribute, ask one of the officers for more.

The farm stand is closed for the season, but you can follow on Facebook or visit the website for news, recipes, and more.
Guild KAL (Knit-a-Long or Knit Along or....)

As mentioned at January's meeting, the guild is offering a KAL with the Wallaby hooded sweater. The pattern is available from KnitWit or Halcyon in booklet form; it's not available for purchase on Ravelry, although you can browse the pattern name and see plenty of examples. If you are participating or would like to see the KAL progress of others, click here for the Ravelry thread.

Jenn and Julie are talking about this KAL in their podcast, make sure to give it a listen.  When (or if) you post your KAL pictures to instagram please use #WallabyKAL and #MaineYarnPodcast. Thanks!

If you aren't sure what a KAL is, here's a link to a KAL description from The Fibre Co.
