Dear RSCDS Member, From its earliest days, the RSCDS has devoted particular efforts to publishing dance descriptions, initially concentrated on reconstructing dances from old books, and more recently on newly-devised dances. The current Articles of Association call on the Society to “promote and publish, in any suitable physical and electronic form, information and music relating to Scottish country dancing; in particular to publish, or cause to be published, descriptions of Scottish country dances with music and diagrams in simple form and at moderate price;”
Policies in this regard have changed over time. At one time, receipt of a new book was a benefit of membership, but this changed with the arrival of the Scottish Country Dancer magazine in 2005, and the publication of Book 46 in 2010. Eight years on, it seems timely to take stock.
The Membership Services Committee, which handles publications, is aware that there are differing views on this subject and is keen to learn more from you (the members) to help guide future actions. We want to publish material that actually appeals to the SCD community. This survey is your chance to tell us what publications you would like to see in the future.
Please note the survey is anonymous, so please respond frankly. It should not take more than 10 minutes to complete. If you have already completed the survey then you will not be able to take it again.
Thank you for your participation.
If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Cecile Hascoet at cecile.hascoet@rscds.org.
