The UC Women’s Center is now accepting nominations for the 2019 C-Ring Women’s Leadership Award. Finalists and their nominators will be recognized at the annual UC Women’s Center Award Ceremony on March 29, 2019.

Students do not have to be nominated to apply. For more information and to access the application, visit CampusLINK. Applications and letters of support are due. February 4. Questions can be directed to UC Women’s Center Director Angie Fitzpatrick.

thereal time revolution.  Black women continue to show up and show out, creating new forms of everyday activism and movements. In the streets, at the voting booths, in ongoing cultural work through art and writing, and in the halls of Congress, Black women are, as Representative Gwen Moore says, getting “stuff done.”  This year's theme is The Revolution in Real Time and our primary goal for this event is to provide students, faculty, staff, and the greater Cincinnati community with an opportunity to engage with each other about race, gender, and the diverse meanings of black womanhood, feminism, and social movements through individual presentations, panel discussions, think tanks, creative workshops and more. Save the Date for Friday, February 22nd!

Breastfeeding positively impacts the life course of both maternal and child health including the reduction of infant mortality, yet inequities in breastfeeding initiation, duration, and exclusivity persist, particularly in the African American, Appalachian, and rural populations.  This year’s statewide conference, TAKING ACTION FOR EQUITY, a preconference to the Ohio Infant Mortality Summit, will provide plenary sessions and interactive workshops from successful leaders across the continuum, to provide participants with action tools to take back to their community.

Where to Get Warm While Power is Out
Hamilton, OH – While Duke Energy crews are working diligently to restore power to Hamilton County communities affected by the recent ice storm, residents may be in need of a warm place to go until power is back on. If you are currently without power in your home, consider visiting a restaurant, shopping mall, community center, or your local library to get warm. For those in need of a warm place to go, please be aware that all City of Cincinnati Recreation Centers
have been opened as warming centers during normal business hours. You can find your local recreation center here: https://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/recreation/facilities1/recreation-centers/. For information about an open warming center in your community, please contact your local municipal leaders, fire or police departments. The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County is also welcoming those who are without power, encouraging residents to visit their local library branch for warmth. To find your nearest library location and for hours of operation, please visit: https://www.cincinnatilibrary.org/info/hours.asp.
