Another chance to Have your Say

County Councillor's survey is being followed by Highways England

Highways England "thank Gary Markwell for engaging with his West Sussex County constituency on social media.  The insight gained from their responses will be incredibly useful."

It is highly questionable whether it is appropriate for WSCC to be undertaking any poll ahead of the new consultation which is needed precisely to correct the misinformation given out by Highways England in the old, fundamentally flawed consultation.

It is even more questionable that Highways England are intending to use the results.  Most respondents' thinking will still be influenced by the old consultation evidence, which wrongly suggested the traffic benefits of 5A would be greater than other options, and hid the truth about the impacts on the environment and rural communities.

So it is really important that our newsletter readers, who know better, do fill out this survey to redress the balance as far as we can.

The survey can be found on this link:
 https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/gm18roads

Please complete this survey, especially if you live in or travel through West Sussex.

NB  You can check more than one option; for example if you want to protect the environment you can say that you favour Option 1 and also check 'Other' saying that you would favour a lower-impact, wide single carriageway version of Option 1 such as New Purple, if Highways England were to include that version of this option.

Meanwhile, we will be running a weekly blog on https://www.arundelbypass.co.uk/blog revealing how Highways England's 2017 errors came about. The outcome of the 2019 consultation could be very different if Highways England tell the truth about the costs, benefits and impacts of all the options.  Blog no.1 in this series, "They hid the truth about Binsted Village",  can be read on https://www.arundelbypass.co.uk/highways-englands-errors-blog1
