Meet Sandy Cole...

In 2004, at the encouragement of her pastor and at the invitation of a friend, Sandy went on her first mission trip to Paraguay. The people she encountered stole her heart and she has now returned 7 times with Su Refugio Ministries to share and show the love of Jesus. As the Lord has expanded Su Refugio, Sandy also has joined in missions to Peru twice and also to Argentina.  Jim, her husband, has accompanied Sandy on four of these trips and they are returning to Argentina in March of 2019 for a playground build.
     Sandy is no stranger to service. After raising three children, she served on her church staff at Christ Lutheran La Mesa for 20 years in accounting and administration. Sandy also helped the church to organize and send teams on mission with Su Refugio. She assisted in fundraising and sharing their stories upon return. Sandy says, “It is such a joy to see lives transformed through serving on a mission trip.”
      Christ Lutheran sends several people on Su Refugio trips each year, and Sandy helps in-country to plan the Vacation Bible School and children’s activities in
Paraguay and Peru. She has also organized the One Meal packing events at Christ Lutheran La Mesa in partnership with Kids Around the World, sending and distributing more than 200,000 meals to Peru.
     Sandy reflects, “This last July, Jim and I were able to be a part of delivering, preparing and serving those meals in the Children’s Care Centers in Peru. We saw what a difference those meals are making to so many ministries who partner with Su Refugio Peru. We both have been very blessed to see God opening doors for us to serve and support Su Refugio Ministries

and continue to pray that He will raise up many partners here in the US to support and pray for the ministry and many partners in-country to carry out the ministry to orphans and widows.”
     Sandy wears many hats on and off the mission field and uses her many talents and skills serving as Secretary on the Su Refugio Ministries Board of Directors. Near and far, Sandy is living out the Lord's mission through the ministry of Su Refugio “... to care for orphans and widows in their distress... for the glory of God." James 1:27

Lord, We thank YOU for the gifts You have given to the body of Christ. We praise You for people like Sandy and Jim Cole who invest time, talent, and treasure to follow Your commands and to the serve the least of these. Please bless them, Father, and work through them to bring Yourself glory. You are so worthy! Amen
